Snarls

Bio
Snarls is an alternative rock band from Columbus, Ohio, known for their mix of heavy guitars, delicate vocals, and emotionally candid songwriting. Formed by vocalist Chlo White, bassist Riley Hall, and guitarist Mick Martinez, the band emerged from the Midwest DIY scene in 2018 with a sound that blends grunge-tinged alternative rock with indie pop sensibilities.
Their music explores themes of growing up, complicated relationships, and self-reflection, delivered with both grit and vulnerability. Since breaking out with their debut album Burst, Snarls has built a devoted following through energetic live shows and a steady stream of hook-driven releases. The last few years have taken Snarls through the many highs and lows a young band faces – everything from playing their first stadium shows, recording overseas, dealing with the devastating departure of a bandmate, and simply balancing life on the road and at home.
Reviews
“A deliciously fun recipe of harmonies, party stomper hooks, and cheeky guitar distortion”
“Ohio band delivers glitter-pop hooks with brushes of millennial melodrama”
“The stirring, tension-packed vocal takeoff at the end of “For You” hammers home Snarls’ love of love, and the dainty beauty of “If Only” shows just how much emotion they can muster from understated songcraft. Another highlight is the wonderful vocal ping-ponging that closes “Fixed Gear,” evoking the cheerful pop interplay and juxtaposed vocal melodies of The Beths, and kicking off the EP on an incessantly catchy note. If Snarls continue on this upwards trajectory of heartwarming pop/rock, there’s no telling how high they could go.”
“For a band only two albums in, you can imagine that listening back to With Love in the studio must have left the trio with big ol’ goofy smiles on their faces. It’s own reward for a job well done. The energy emitted over the course of the album’s 10 tracks will have toes tapping and heads bobbing along from Columbus to Surnadal and places in between. Sonically speaking, the smile-inducing With Love could easily be the best thing you hear all year.”
